"I would recommend anyone regardless of handicap to visit Rod at Tupelo Bay to have him analyze your current clubs to determine if changes are needed. He can change clubs you currently use, or he can build you a set. I chose to have a set made, and I am very pleased. These are not off the rack clubs. They were built just for me. His customer service is great. I visited Rod on two follow up occasions. Changes were made with no additional charges. Rod has been a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, it is nice to have confidence in your clubs when you are on the course."

"I met Rod and his staff soon after Championship Golf opened at Tupelo Bay. Until that time I had always purchased whatever driver Big Bertha (Callaway) that was hot at the time. Rod set me up with a new head and a shaft that was flexed perfectly for my swing. It was an instant 20 yards! When it came time for new irons, I went straight to Championship Golf. Rod introduced me to the new Infiniti Assure Irons. It was the same look as my Callaway Cavity Back Irons so the look was still pleasing to the eye. As I had always faded my irons, Rod dropped the lie 3º and strengthened the loft by 2º. The results were phenomenal! The STEEL/FIBER shafts and Infiniti Heads combined for a 2-club difference. Where I had to hit an 8 iron for approximately 120 yards I now hit a Pitching Wedge. 400-yard holes used to be driver-3 wood and now it's driver-7 iron! I have wasted the last 20 years of golfing by not being fitted for clubs. I am now 61 years old and playing to a 5 handicap so it's never too late!

I recently purchased a NEW SET of irons from Rod Gainer of Championship Golf. Rod had let me swing one of these clubs previously and they really felt good. The ball flew longer than with my Callaway’s. With the NEW STEEL/FIBER SHAFT and the Infiniti heads, it was a great combination for me. Rod did an excellent job with shaft choice, lie angle, etc...matching my swing. Of all the clubs I have owned, this set is by FAR most suitable for me. If I could not buy anymore clubs, I would not let these go at any price. They are that good. I would also like to say these clubs are HOT! I am 60 years old and need all the help I can get. These clubs are the real deal. I recommend anyone to let Rod show you what he has to offer. Rod really knows how to build clubs to FIT your swing. You will not be disappointed.

Gary Weidner-Myrtle Beach, SC

Rod did an excellent job fitting the Assure Golf Clubs to my swing making the clubs easy for me to hit with confidence and eliminating serious missed hits. I would recommend the Infiniti Assure Golf Clubs to any golfers looking for a club or clubs that are easy to hit. The irons are great. I also own a 3 wood that Rod made for me.

This is the first set of clubs that I ever had custom fitted to my height and swing speed. By having the shafts made a half inch longer I go down and hit the ball more consistently than ever before.
I like to thank you again for taking the time to show me the difference and accuracy in hitting the ball
My golf course hasn’t opened yet, but I feel my handicap will come down. I cannot wait to play.

CORY HOSHOR- Worthington, OH

I like Dan and he has really influenced my game a lot too. He has really helped me with my alingment and set up and to not cut across the ball. He also taught that the most common mistakes are not even when you swing. I recommend him to all ages of golfers.

BRUCE LAMONT - Surfside Beach, SC

I am very very PLEASED with my new set of Infiniti Irons that Rod Gainer of Championship Golf made for me. I recorded a HOLE-IN-ONE on a 130 yard hole, using my 9 iron on December 9th, 2005 and another HOLE-IN-ONE on a 151 yard hole, using my 6 iron on February 15th, 2006.

MARK ANDERSON - Surfside Beach, SC

"Hit the home run with the BANG driver." I went from the shortest to the longest in my golf group. Even if I hit "off center", I still get almost the same yardage. This club is worth every penny. I am a 14 handicap and I get "The Stare" from the boys when they see my drive and they even give me my yardage on my drive!!"

PAUL SENEY - Voorheesville, NY

I had the opportunity to take (2) golf lessons from Dan Poling, starting on November 18th. It was a very chilly day. To give some history of my golfing career, I have been playing some 25 years, after mostly playing baseball for probably 35 years or so. I am currently living in upper New York State, and play golf during our seasonal months. I bought a home in Myrtle Beach last fall and joined the Senior Citizen group which gave me the opportunity to play the many courses in Myrtle Beach, including Tupelo Bay, located in Garden City, SC. My wife and I played Tupelo Bay several times during the years before we bought our home. My wife scored a hole-in-one at Tupelo Bay in September 2004. I got an e-mail from the Senior Center giving us the opportunity to take one hour golf lesson, with the second lesson free. I went over and made an appointment with Dan for the very same day. I warmed up before my appointment and Dan came over with his clipboard and asked me some routine questions when interviewing a new student. He asked me to hit some shots, in which I did so, and he said, "You played baseball didn't you?" "Oh yeah," was my reply. Dan was very patient with my inconsistencies, in which was my goal, as far as what I was to correct during my lessons. Dan was very demonstrative. He knew the golf swing and showed me how to fix my flaws, through the drills he provided and was very supportive in my good shots during this lesson. I felt very comfortable with Dan, and he made it fun for me. I took this lesson, and then practiced his recommendations at the range, and then to the golf course itself. Of course, it felt strange making these changes, but I stuck with it. I shot an 82 the first time out, and arranged a second lesson with Dan and reported to him, what I had done, in which he told me that he was not surprised at my score. This input gave me even more confidence to grind out these learning's and reach my goal to be more consistent on the course. I made my second appointment with Dan and asked for work on my short game which involved pitching, chipping,, and putting. This lesson turned out to be even more fun than the first, as we went through "the around the green work," and then back to Dan's teaching area for the pitching aspects of the game. Here, after Dan's input on pitching, we got involved in a little game of piching at certain targets, and distances, which turned out to be like game day situations (a little pressure) which was fun, and I learned probably what has been such an inconsistent flaw in that aspect of the game. I am looking so forward of having continuing lessons with Dan, as I am returning to Myrtle Beach in several weeks, Please let me say, that Tupelo Bay has a very professional, courteous, and dedicated golf teacher at your course, and I will surely recommend Dan to people I meet in Myrtle Beach. He is a credit to your organization.

NICK TURO - Mechanicsburg, PA

"When I arrived in Myrtle Beach, in Mid-OCtober, my golf game was non-existant. It didn't take Dan long to pinpoint my swing flaws. He then worked with me to correct these flaws. Not only did Dan fix my problems, he gave me several drills to help me improve my swing. For the first time in quite a while I'm hitting the ball straight and as a result getting more distance.
In my mind it was the best instruction I ever received."

"When I met Rod in June of 2003, I thought I was a good player, with a good background, who had taken lessons from every Pro that would take my money. I had attended Golf Schools, taken Video Lessons, Playing Lesson, you name it, I've tried it.I was an 18 handicap player and was registered into the Dupont Amateur Tournament at the end of August. I told Rod that I wanted to win that tournament and if I did I would tell EVERYONE, the TV, the Radio, and the Newspaper that I owed it all to Championship Golf. Well Rod tried everything. I played the tournament, didn't win, but placed a respectable 4th. I didn't win because, I couldn't hit my Driver straight, with confidence. Does that sound familiar? Long but where is it going. Rod told me that we would get to the next level. He promised me this. I promised him that I would listen and do what he says.

So we started the program!

Rod took me out to the 3rd hole at the Executive Course at Tupelo Bay, a 136 yard par 3 and asked me, " What club will you use? How will you approach the green, draw or fade? How much can you draw or fade the shot? Will you hit the ball high or low into the pin? I answered, "Now wait a minute." Well that was the beginning of my golfing days.
In my opinion, both Rod and Dan have taught me the most important aspect of the golf game - THINK THE SHOT. That's right don't only hit the shot, but think about what you want to do before you hit the shot. They have embedded in me the following:

1. Hit each shot solid, not fat or thin, but solid, listen for the click. Hear the shot and you will know if you hit a good shot or not.
2. Am I going to hit a high shot to a tight pin or a low shot to a back pin?
3. Am I going to draw or fade the ball to avoid the hazards?
4. How far do you hit your wedges?

That's right, THINK -THINK - THINK! You need to know all of this before you hit your next shot.I know so many players that go out and hit the shot, not think the shot before they hit it.
They made me understand that if I want to get to the next level I would need to have an extra club - the mental aspect of the game in my bag. I still have a great time between shots, but when I get to hitting the ball, I play out the shot in my mind first, then execute. Now, how many Pros out there will teach you this? Don't accept less than this if you want to get to the next level.

The thought I always carry with me is the story about Phil Mickelson, when he shot "59" last year. The announcer asked Phil, "What now Phil?" and he answered, "58! What else" That's right even Phil is always trying to get to the next level. If you guys want to get to the next level, come and visit Championship Golf. They guarantee the results.

Thanks and good luck."

CHARLES KREILICK - Myrtle Beach, SC

"After 30 years of using my old clubs, I thought that I was long overdue for a new set.
I went to see Rod Gainer at Championship Golf.
Rod took the time to explain the mechanics of the golf club. He tested my old clubs and they were not even in the normal frequency range. We went out to the driving range with a variety of new clubs, and we were able to determine which clubs would be right for me. They felt better and I was hitting the ball further, higher and straighter than I had ever hit my old clubs. After a couple of more tests Rod was able to select the exact fit for me. He made my new Infiniti clubs on August 29th. Since then my handicap has gone from a 21 down to a 17. I am sure that it will continue to go lower. My confidence level rises with each round of golf that I play.
I would recommend Rod Gainer and Championship Golf at Tupelo Bay to anyone that is interested in new clubs or just wants to improve his or her game."

JENNIFER SAWULAK - Orchard Park, NY

"I started at Championship Golf as a beginner. Starting from not being able to hit the ball with a club to grasping the basic concepts. Dan has an excellent ability to instruct the beginning golfers. He was able to teach the proper drills to help me with the proper stance, grip, and swing. I had four lessons that were important for my new found hobby. It's a very difficult and frustrating sport and he offered encouragement that is needed to gain confidence. I would recommend Dan to anyone that wants to start or improve their golf game. I look forward to taking more lessons when I return to Myrtle Beach."

"Rod Gainer of Championship Golf fitted me for my Infiniti irons, Driver, Nairhawk 3 Wood, and Crown Jewel 5 & 7 Woods, and more recently, my Infiniti Hybrid 18 degree iron. I am a totally satisfied customer, whose handicap has dropped from a 15 to 11. Rod stands behind his products and his work. He is so thorough in designing clubs for a player that it is highly unlikely a customer will be anything but 100% satisfied."

"Hi! My name is Tony Cimorelli and being an avid golfer I moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2001. I had retired from the hectic world of being an elementary school principal in the State of New York.

I have enjoyed my retirement here and have become involved in the golf industry by having worked as a pro shop assistant at 2 very exciting and challenging courses on the Grand Strand.

I mention all of this so that who ever reads this would, I hope, feel that when I speak with great respect and confidence about Championship Golf located at Tupelo Bay Golf Center they will feel that I speak with some knowledge of the game.

Championship Golf, under the leadership of PGA Golf Professional, Rod Gainer has all that the amateur golfer would ever need to insure that their "game" will improve.

I have personally had a custom set of clubs made using the expertise of Championship Golf and have truly enjoyed playing with them. I must admit that hitting the driver at times leaves something to be desired, but Mr. Gainer has helped in that area by using the most up to date swing analysis equipment to make me a better striker of the ball.

I have spoken of my personal satisfaction with Championship Golf, but being in the "businesss" I can state with confidence that many of the golf pros in the area trust that their club repairs will be done professionally and properly by the staff at Championship Golf.

I could go on concerning the high quality of the staff, craftmanship and the professionalism of Championship Golf, but knowing these to be true, I would totally recommend them to anyone who wanted work done on their clubs or may be in need of various types of lessons to improve their skills. Championship Golf has earned my trust and I can assure you this trust and confidence is shared by both the amateur and professional in the Myrtle Beach area when it comes to getting the proper clubs that will fit their swing."

MARK McCALLUM - Myrtle Beach, SC

"You guys are the BEST! I came into Championship Golf with a 24 handicap. Rod fit me up with mid-sized Infiniti irons with matched flexes. These clubs are so easy to hit... I've dropped 8 strokes off my handicap! I have referred several others to you, and will continue to do so. Keep up the good work!"

"About four years ago I decided I needed new irons. A neighbour recommended Championship Golf and Rod Gainer.

So Rod and I went to the driving range to hit different irons with various lies, stiffness, and kick points. I could hit none of them. I was BAD! Rod said he could not sell me anything that day because I was not consistent. I was HORRIBLE! Later we tried it again and I was fitted with a set I still use.

Through the years I have always appreciated the club making skills at Championship Golf but most of all the honesty and professionalism."

DEBBY W. SQUIRES - Garden City, SC

"Being a retired teacher, I am always ready to "critique" anyone who is teaching me anything. I can honestly say that taking golf lessons from Rod Gainer at Tupelo Bay was a great "student" experience for me. Rod is an excellent teacher who exhibits the three P's of teaching. He is patient, positive, and professional.

Before my lessons with Rod in July of 2003, I hand never played golf. I can now shoot consistently in the mid 90's. As a 56 year old female, I thought I was too old to take up the sport of golf. Taking lessons from Rod changed my mind about that!

He also fitted me for clubs and had them ready in a couple of days. After I got my clubs and finished the lessons he called several times to "check" on my progress. It has been two years since I worked with Rod and he still calls occasionally to see how my game is and says"lets' play sometime!"

I highly recommend Rod to anyone who wants to take up golf OR needs help with any part of their game. I would also recommend Championship Golf for all of your club needs as well. I love my clubs and think that they are the top of the line! "

The service has been great, the work is guaranteed and the quality is first class. I have been working with these guys for about 5 years now and would have no one else touch my clubs. They have my first class recommendation for all of my golfing friends and clients."

LOU KRIEGER - Myrtle Beach, SC

"Rod Gainer was recommended to me by Robb Mosser, General Manager and former Head Golf Professional at Wachesaw East. I was planning on purchasing a set of name brand (OEM) clubs and wanted to be measured properly. To make a long story short, I ordered the clubs, when they arrived the swing weights were all over the place, I was so dissatisfied with the performance I sent them back. I then set up an appointment with Rod after doing research on the products he sells, KZG, Infinity and the Apache graphite shafts he uses. I did not have a problem not using OEM equipment because I had been using Golfsmith products for the past 10 years and was satisfied with their performance, but I was building the clubs myself, matching each club as close as possible to the correct swing weight. However, with today’s golf technology, to gain more consistency I knew that was not enough.

I have played the game long enough now (beginning in 1988) and read enough to know that we as amateurs will never get a set of clubs like the pros play with, especially a set that you buy right off the rack or even a set that is “static” measured, since different manufacturers have different standards for the “average” golfer. The same holds true with all the different shafts that are out there, the flexes are so inconsistent it would make your head spin. I decided that if I was going to improve my game, I had to get the best equipment I could, suited to my tempo and swing speed and then work on any swing mechanics or faults I had.

My experience at the range with Rod was impressive to say the least, with his bag of different frequency matched clubs in different lengths and swing weights. We finally narrowed it down to the length and swing weight that performed best for me. I also saw what too weak a shaft did with my swing and also what too stiff a shaft did with the distance, and I also found out how hard a blade is to hit consistently. After we settled on the shaft flex length and the swing weight, it was time to head inside and beat the board to see about the lie and then pick out some grips to wrap things up. Once the clubs were completed, Rod took me back out to the range to work with me to see if the clubs were to my satisfaction and to make sure they performed the way I was hitting them at the fitting session. In fact, we have made a couple of minor adjustments to this set since I purchased them, one of the adjustments was a “LESSON ON MY SWING” where I was fault and not the club, and did not believe I was doing what I was doing until Rod dipped in to his bag of Gizmo’s and showed me.

If it is one thing that will keep someone in business and getting referrals and that is “SERVICE AFTER THE SALE” and you will get this from Rod Gainer at Championship Golf. He sells a quality products and will back it 110% without any question. I liked the Infinity Clubs I have so much, I just took the two Cleveland 588’s I had in my bag out and replaced them with Infinity Sand and Gap Wedges. Rod did a bit of work on my swing about 3 weeks ago and because of the change, I am getting a little toe down action on the irons that are going to require an adjustment. I knew the answer before I even made the call, "Lou, bring the set in, I’ll put you on the board and we’ll bend em’ to make them right”. The ONLY WAY YOU WILL PLAY BETTER GOLF is to GET EQUIPMENT THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU! Also, you may want to package a couple of lessons in with that! I’ll give you a perfect example of how you can waste your money. One of my friends went on-line to the Golf Warehouse and was fitted for a set of Callaway Irons. When he received them he was thinning them, I had Rod check them out since he is taller than I am and they were 1 ½” too short for him. After haggling with Callaway and the Golf Warehouse, he sent them back and they put extensions in. Long story short, he was still unhappy since they now were swinging so heavy, he went back to his old set and has his $750 Callaway’s sitting is his garage. He says the next stop for them is E-Bay!

In my opinion you will not get a better fitting set of clubs for the money, if you have some OEM’s and are doing well with them, you are one of the few that I know. There are many pro’s on the beach that take their OEM’s to Rod to have them tweaked to their specifications, but they can do that since they get the product for half of what we do. It’s too bad that more people do not take care of their customers like Rod does!"

Sincerely,

Lou Krieger

"I've been playing golf for thirty plus years. My clubs were always bought from a golf store or pro-shop. After my wife picked up the game of golf and had a set of clubs made by Rod Gainer of Championship Golf, I decided to take the leap and have him make me a driver. In all my years of golf, I could never hit my driver without some slice. After some time with Rod on the range, he made a driver for me that best suited my swing and height (6ft 2in). Never in my thirty years of golf have I hit the ball so straight, so consistently. With a custom driver, I have now had five games in the seventies and my handicap has dropped to a ten. Gift giving is easy because at Christmas I received a "THREE IRON", my birthday a "GAP WEDGE", with many more surprises to come. I am now a believer in Rod's ability to build clubs and will never buy another club off the shelf. A buddy was in town recently and we went to visit Rod. He is a beginner but Rod worked with him to build a custom set. Since then, he and his wife have been playing and they love the game."

"When I decided I wanted to play golf, I went to a golf store. The gentleman proceeded to show me the ladies clubs. I picked out a set. The first time I played golf with my sister-in-law, who is a low handicap golfer, she pointed out to me that my clubs were too short for my build. After a recommendation from a golf-pro, I went to see Rod Gainer at Championship Golf. Together, we built clubs best suited for my swing, height and grip. I realize the importance, even as a beginner, of playing with equipment that will enchance my game rather than impair it. The selling point for me was being able to buy the clubs best suited for me at my own pace as I needed them over the course of several months. I now own a complete set and I have recommended Rod to my friends. I've also taken lessons from Rod because he has the technology to video tape and analyze my swing. This method of teaching allowed me to see what I was doing wrong and to work on the proper mechanics of my swing. My husband says that together he and Rod have created a monster because I love this game!"

William Schreiber - Surfside, SC

"Rod taught me more about my clubs and why they react the way they do in twenty minutes than I had learned in twenty years of playing golf. He walks you through a fitting process without requiring you to change anything about your swing. He builds you a set of clubs that maximizes your game by minimizing club and shaft error. With just a little practice( a bucket of balls), I went out and shot 5 strokes lower on the same course I usually play. My game just keeps getting better and my golfing buddies are now arguing over who gets me as a partner. What a great feeling. Thanks Rod, you are the best fitter I have every met."

"For years I had to deal with a severe slice. It took distance off my drive and was only efficient on a "dog leg right".
Several instructors had worked with me on this fundamental flaw in my swing, but no one was effective in helping me correct it. In nearly a last ditch effort, I went to Dan Poling of Championship Golf. His patience, persistence and knowledge of the game helped me correct this flaw. My swing is not perfect, but my drives are now generally straight and are at least 30 yards longer off the tee. This has instilled confidence in a lot of other aspects of my game and I attribute that to Danny. I thank Danny for his help, professionalism and just being a real nice person to work with - Thanks!"

"My job at Myrtle Beach golf courses enabled me to obtain recommendations related to fitting and purchase of a new driver. A number of golfers recommeded Rod Gainer at Tupelo Bay Golf Center. I made an appointment, and Rod was there on schedule. My list of requiremetns was extensive:

  • Test various clubs in golf course conditions, i.e., a driving range.
  • LASER equipment would be used to determine swing data
  • A knowledgeable professional would do the fitting
  • Quality of materials used in the driver was important
  • A detailed listing of driver configuration data would be provided

The first session was approximately one hour on the driving range using clubs of various configurations. The second session began on the driving range, and concluded with swing analysis on the LASER system. Rod's approach was professional, systematic, and personable. He uses his experience and knowledge of the golf swing to construct a club tailored to the golfer's swing tendencies, ability and age. On my first outing with the new clubs, I hit my longest drive ever playing the par 5, number 18 at Belle Terre. I was elated with the results, and called Rod to inform him of the good news. Rod Gainer is an excellent professional. It was a pleasure to work with him. He has my highest recommedations."

"I would like to take this time to thank you for the time and service you have given to me in working on my swing and for the fitting of my new Infiiti Golf Clubs and the time in making sure that they were fitted just right. I was impressed with your teaching skills and the quality of the golf clubs.

You at Championship Golf have made golf fun again for me and lowering my scores just feels good.

The clubs just feel natural in my hands and my friends inquire about where and who made them. So without hesitation I would recommend Championship Golf to anyone.

Again Thank you."

I moved from Michigan to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina about two years ago, and was looking for a place to change the shaft in my driver. Asking around the club I had joined, the Head Pro, Michael West of the International Club in Murrells Inlet, informed me about Championnship Golf. When I visited it the next day, I was highly impressed. They carried the top of the line in shafts, components and grips at a very favorable rate compared to the Golf Superstores.Even more impressing than that was the personalized service I received. It was the most friendly, professional service I had encountered anywhere. It was very clear that I was not just another number but a valued and respected customer. Rod Gainer, the Head PGA Professional and owner of Championship Golf talked to me to find out what I was looking for in a shaft. He then took me to the adjacent driving range with approximately 12 different drivers and had me actulally hit balls until we found the perfect shaft to fit my swing. Had it not been for his personalized service I am sure I would have purchased what was the latest "hot shaft" and not been able to use it. To my surprise I did not have to come back in a couple of days to pick up my driver as he installed the shaft immediately. I took it to the golf course to play that afternoon. He really made me feel like part of the family. I have stopped in over the last two years for various reasons, sometimes for repairs, clubs, advice or just to talk. The reception has always been the same. Just part of the family. With all this why would anyone go anywhere else?

Championship Golf at Tupelo Bay made a club for me and it has changed my whole golf game and outlook on golf. The right club will help you hit the ball a lot better. It took 10 strokes off my game.

We love Tupelo Bay for many reasons. First, the staff is very helpful. Second, the golf here is very good, with a very interesting course
A few years ago, Rod gave me a lesson and built me a set of custom made clubs that fit me perfectly. Now golf is fun again!
He is patient, skilled instructor and an expert club builder. We proudly carry our Tupelo Bay Golf Bag Tag all over.

Fitted 1st set in 2001. The irons brought my game back to a steady 10 handicap. Moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2005 and have returned several time for adjustments for useage. Now in 2008 have returned from Thailand for a new set with the same superb service.

Darrell Childers - Former Professional at Wicked Stick Golf Course

After twenty years as an amateur, twenty years as a PGA Professional, and instruction from a number of different teachers, I finally found Rod Gainer at Championship Golf at Tupelo Bay Golf Center. Although I am a fairly accomplished player, even at the age of 61, I am now playing better than I ever played any time in my career. I had my lowest round ever last fall, 66, and my second lowest in November 2009, 68. It is not uncommon to have an under par side during any round. I attribute this most drastic change to Rod. I bought my current set of woods from him, had my irons re-shafted , and took series of lessons over a two-month period. I was always able to drive it straight, but I now am a little longer, hit more greens and make more putts. Thanks, Rod

Fred Heym -Murrells Inlet, SC

I went to Championship Golf to get my clubs re-griped. Started to talk with Rod about some of the problems I was having with my game. I needed more height and distance. Rod and I went over to the Driving Range where he worked with me.

I bought Pitching Wedge thru 3 iron. I have never hit a golf ball as good as I am right now. Hitting the golf ball about 10 to 15 yards further and the height is perfect. The clubs feel perfect with the same shaft flex. I recommend Rod. His is willing to work with you on fixing your club problems.
