LOU KRIEGER - Myrtle Beach, SC
"Rod Gainer was recommended
to me by Robb Mosser, General Manager and former Head Golf Professional at
Wachesaw East. I
was planning on purchasing a set of name brand (OEM) clubs and wanted to be
measured properly. To
make a long story short, I ordered the clubs, when they arrived the swing
weights were all over the place, I was so dissatisfied with the performance I
sent them back. I
then set up an appointment with Rod after doing research on the products he
sells, KZG, Infinity and the Apache graphite shafts he uses. I
did not have a problem not using OEM equipment because I had been using
Golfsmith products for the past 10 years and was satisfied with their
performance, but I was building the clubs myself, matching each club as close
as possible to the correct swing weight. However,
with today’s golf technology, to gain more consistency I knew that was not
enough.
I have played the game long
enough now (beginning in 1988) and read enough to know that we as amateurs
will never get a set of clubs like the pros play with, especially a set that
you buy right off the rack or even a set that is “static” measured, since
different manufacturers have different standards for the “average” golfer.
The same holds true with
all the different shafts that are out there, the flexes are so inconsistent it
would make your head spin. I
decided that if I was going to improve my game, I had to get the best
equipment I could, suited to my tempo and swing speed and then work on any
swing mechanics or faults I had.
My experience at the range
with Rod was impressive to say the least, with his bag of different frequency
matched clubs in different lengths and swing weights. We
finally narrowed it down to the length and swing weight that performed best
for me. I
also saw what too weak a shaft did with my swing and also what too stiff a
shaft did with the distance, and I also found out how hard a blade is to hit
consistently. After
we settled on the shaft flex length and the swing weight, it was time to head
inside and beat the board to see about the lie and then pick out some grips to
wrap things up. Once
the clubs were completed, Rod took me back out to the range to work with me to
see if the clubs were to my satisfaction and to make sure they performed the
way I was hitting them at the fitting session. In
fact, we have made a couple of minor adjustments to this set since I purchased
them, one of the adjustments was a “LESSON ON MY SWING” where I was fault and
not the club, and did not believe I was doing what I was doing until Rod
dipped in to his bag of Gizmo’s and showed me.
If it is one thing that will
keep someone in business and getting referrals and that is “SERVICE AFTER THE
SALE” and you will get this from Rod Gainer at Championship Golf.
He sells a quality
products and will back it 110% without any question. I
liked the Infinity Clubs I have so much, I just took the two Cleveland 588’s I
had in my bag out and replaced them with Infinity Sand and Gap Wedges.
Rod did a bit of work on
my swing about 3 weeks ago and because of the change, I am getting a little
toe down action on the irons that are going to require an adjustment.
I knew the answer before
I even made the call, "Lou, bring the set in, I’ll put you on the board and
we’ll bend em’ to make them right”. The
ONLY WAY YOU WILL PLAY BETTER GOLF is to GET EQUIPMENT THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!
Also, you may want to
package a couple of lessons in with that! I’ll
give you a perfect example of how you can waste your money. One
of my friends went on-line to the Golf Warehouse and was fitted for a set of
Callaway Irons. When
he received them he was thinning them, I had Rod check them out since he is
taller than I am and they were 1 ½” too short for him. After
haggling with Callaway and the Golf Warehouse, he sent them back and they put
extensions in. Long
story short, he was still unhappy since they now were swinging so heavy, he
went back to his old set and has his $750 Callaway’s sitting is his garage.
He says the next stop for
them is E-Bay!
In my opinion you will not
get a better fitting set of clubs for the money, if you have some OEM’s and
are doing well with them, you are one of the few that I know.
There are many pro’s on
the beach that take their OEM’s to Rod to have them tweaked to their
specifications, but they can do that since they get the product for half of
what we do. It’s too bad that more people do not take care of their customers
like Rod does!"
Sincerely,
Lou Krieger
