RESIZING PICTURES FOR THE INTERNET
Let me start by saying the normal size for pictures coming directly from a camera is 3888 x 2592 pixels and as far as the internet is concerned that is huge. As far as printing your picture that is the size we need to get a good quality print. So, what ever you do - do not change your camera to a lower resolution. It is far easier to resize a picture for the internet as apposed to resizing for the printer. KEEP YOUR RESOLUTION AT 300 PPI. The following tutorial will show you how to make these beautiful pictures for the internet:
.Download your pictures to your hard drive. If you do not know how to do that go to:
.Iím assuming that you know how to get your pictures to your hard drive. NOTE: Make sure you put these pictures in a folder, letís call this folder pictures1
.Now make a new folder and letís call it pictures1_resized. Put this folder in the same place as the first folder, ieÖ in my documents or my pictures so you can find both of them.
.Now download this software - it is FREE:
.Just follow the wizard to download this software.
.Once downloaded you will find the icon on your desktop.
.Open the software and a screen comes up where you can work with one picture or a batch of pictures. The batch resizing is great if you have a lot of pictures and you will want these all to be the same size.
.Letís do the batch: click on source and highlight the folder picture1
.Then go to destination and click on the folder pictures1_resized
.If you are resizing only one picture then get the picture from your hard drive and resize it to your hard drive using the name they offer.
.I usually let the pictures resize to 600 x 400 - this is a great size for the internet or websites.
.The software does the rest and you will be able to send these pictures to anyone without losing any quality.
REMEMBER: DO NOT DESTROY THE ORIGINAL PICTURES - THEY CAN BE PRINTED BY YOU ON YOUR EQUIPMENT OR BE BROUGHT TO ANY PICTURE OUTLET
